Guardian Scholars Foundation Interview with Fostering Change in America [VIDEO]

Welcome to this episode of Fostering Change in America where we interview Tom Wolf, the CEO of the Guardian Scholars Foundation in the state of Iowa. The Guardian Scholars Foundation provides funding for foster youth to go to college in the state of Iowa. Tom, the CEO, has a big heart for helping this population become successful despite their past circumstances.

This organization has set up what it takes to improve the statistics for foster youth. Guardian Scholars Foundation work to bridge the gap between the reality of the cost for a four year school and what the federal and state funding has available for financial aid. They also provide mentors to help students succeed.

The following excerpt describing the foundation was taking from the Guardian Scholars’ web site www.GuardianScholarsFoundation.org:

“The Guardian Scholars Foundation provides a comprehensive program that leverages the expertise and resources of both the public and private sector to create a synergy of support for youth who have spent time in the foster care system in Iowa between the ages of 14-18. A Guardian Scholarship is more than a scholarship: together, a network of academic institutions and community organizations, public service agencies, and private citizens create a community dedicated to assisting the qualified and motivated foster youth in achieving their educational goals.”

During this interview, host Travis Lloyd states that “Less than twenty-eight percent of foster youth who have grown up and aged out of the system, ever make it to college. Less than three percent of those same foster youth ever graduate with a bachelor’s degree before the age of twenty-five.”

All of us at Changing Lives Entertainment, LLC are passionate about Fostering Change in America and we are honored to raise awareness of this program that has a direct impact with foster youth. Watch this interview here:
