A Midwest Southern Accent – & Meeting Rapping Dad (event recap)
Motivational Speaker for Foster Youth
(EVENT RECAP)
If you’re on this site then you likely know that I travel as a motivational speaker and author.
I left my previous career in 2014 to pursue this passion fully. Taking that leap of faith has been very challenging, but also extremely rewarding.
Some of my favorite audiences to date are the same types of audiences that got me heading down the path of sharing stories to inspire hope and create change in communities, states, and the nation. Those audiences foster care youth, foster parents, adoptive parents, child welfare, juvenile justice, and mental health professionals.
My schedule has changed quite a bit and I do a lot of corporate and professional development events nowadays so I don’t always have the opportunity to be actively involved as a motivational speaker for foster youth retreats.
When I do get the chance to rock out with a teen conference it is always full of epic memories.
I recently had the opportunity to be the opening keynote speaker and performer for the State of Kansas Department for Children and Families. The event was FULL of smiles, tears, and tangible personal growth and development that could be felt by all in attendance.
I wasn’t the only keynote speaker though! I did the opening presentation, but motivational speaker (and internationally recognized Rapping Dad) Derek Clark was the closing keynote speaker! (you can Google him, even Shaquille Oneal has retweeted his viral video)
I’ve admired Derek and have been connected to him for several years, even calling him for advice when I first got started speaking for large events.
I talked about one of my favorite things about this event in this video blog as well.
One of the attendees made a funny accent in the video you’ll probably enjoy.
